Alberto Luis Copello Cleger was born in the city of Camagüey, Cuba, on May 4, 1971.
Camagüey is one of the most cultural cities in the country, known for producing great artists, painters, writers, poets, and musicians throughout its history.
At the age of ten, Alberto applied to the Art School in his city but was not accepted, leading him to develop his painting skills entirely on his own, doing small works in his free time.
In 2014, during one of his trips to Cuba, he reunited with an old friend and painter, Victor Moreno, who was 94 years old at the time. Moreno reignited his passion for painting after almost 43 years without holding a brush.
Shortly thereafter, Alberto began creating some works in the town where he currently lives, Ruše, a small city in Slovenia, drawing the attention of painter Marijan Kosi, who helped him organize his first small exhibition of paintings.
In 2017, he met the president of Duplek Art, Rajko Ferk, who invited him to participate in an event in the city of Maribor, allowing him to showcase his work to a large number of attendees.
That same year, he became part of Duplek's Colony and remains today the only Cuban representative. He has also held several exhibitions together with Duplek in various Slovenian cities such as Celje, Slovenska Bistrica, and Litja. After a year of collaboration, he decided to continue solo in cities like Velenje, Rogaška Slatina, Šentjur, and finally at a university in Ljubljana, the capital.
He thanks God for restoring his passion for the art of painting, continuing to pursue the dream he has always had since childhood: to become a great painter.
