Roberta Baldassano was born in Siena on January 13, 1971. From a young age, she showed a strong interest in the visual arts, leading her to pursue formal training in fashion, obtaining a fashion designer diploma after completing high school. Her professional career began as a teacher in various nurseries, where for twenty years she devoted herself not only to teaching but also to beautifying spaces with murals inspired by the world of childhood. These murals, rich in color and fantasy, became a way to express her creativity and her love for children. At the end of 2020, Roberta connected with master Valerio Toninelli through social media.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, she managed to meet him in person in May 2021 at Toninelli's "house-museum" in Pistoia. Here, under his guidance, she learned various sculptural and pictorial techniques, deepening her artistic skills.
In July 2023, she participated in the "Artistic Colonies" in Serbia and Romania, an experience that further enriched her artistic and cultural background. Her exhibition path is rich with participation in collective exhibitions of international relevance. Among these, the exhibition "Donna" at the Museo Tuscolano delle Scuderie Aldobrandini in Frascati, the "Premio Internazionale Arti Visive Barcellona" at Casa Milà - La Pedrera in Barcelona, and "Una Mostra da Paura" at the "Art Saloon" art gallery in Ariccia stand out.
In 2024, Roberta also took part in the international collective exhibition "Pigmenti" and is preparing for new exhibitions such as "VISIONI" at the Tempio di Pomona in Salerno and the Christmas exhibition at "Art Saloon" in Ariccia.Roberta Baldassano is a multifaceted artist in constant evolution. She experiments with various styles, from pop to abstraction to symbolism, in an artistic journey that reflects her deep inner search. Each work becomes a piece of a larger mosaic, telling the story of her incessant exploration of herself through art.
When an artist can deeply explore their emotions and understand their many facets, even the most contradictory ones, an authentic and personal visual expression emerges. This type of expression reflects their essence, their approach to life, and their vision of what is ordinary and extraordinary. In the field of painting, this awareness often manifests through a stylistic freedom that breaks conventional rules. Following preset patterns or dictates would mean, in fact, giving up part of that essence which needs to be liberated and expressed through the unique and inseparable bond between emotion and artistic gesture.
The artist I will talk about today reveals in their works a dualism that belongs to their nature and emerges spontaneously, outlining a style that oscillates between different interpretations of the observed reality. Their art embraces a wide range of experiences and techniques: from pop to abstract, from geometric to informal, up to dripping. This explosion of ideas, often in contrast with each other, challenges the expectations of coherence that the art world might require. However, for the artist, true coherence lies in being faithful to themselves, their feelings, and impulses.
Driven by the desire to experiment, curiosity, and cultural research, the artist is carried away by their humanity and sensitivity. Every mood variation, every internal change becomes an indispensable part of their creative process. In this way, the artist finds themselves in losing themselves, discovering a profound connection between their feelings and visual expression.
